Does the water supply licensing regime apply to wastewater and effluent?
No. The new water supply licensing regime applies only to non-household water supplies.
The Government did not extend the water supply licensing regime to include wastewater as they considered that there are already opportunities for competition in the sewage and trade effluent treatment such as on-site facilities and tankered removal of sewage and effluent.
