What complaints does Ofwat deal with?
We deal with certain complaints, disagreements and appeals. These include: - complaints by landowners about work by the companies in private land;
- complaints by landowners about the duty of companies to divert the company's pipework on request;
- disputes about charges for connections to water mains or sewers;
- disputes about terms for the laying of water mains and sewers, the route to be taken or delay in providing them;
- appeals about the adoption of sewers;
- cases where it is alleged that companies are not complying with their statutory duties or licence conditions;
- cases where the water company has refused to install a meter;
- water companies abusing their dominant position by consistently overcharging their customers;
- cases where water companies refuse to give potential competitors access to their water resources;
- agreements between water companies, for example colluding on pricing or bidding for contracts, that may breach the Competition Act 1998; and
- questions about Ofwat policy.
If you are not happy with the way we have handled your complaint, disagreement or appeal, we would like the chance to put the matter right. So, we have our own review procedure.
