Are companies doing enough to secure water supplies for their customers?

To assess this we use a security of supply index. The index allows us to assess the extent to which a company is able to guarantee its planned level of service.

We band companies according to the likelihood of them having to impose restrictions more often than they plan to.

A company in band A should not need to impose restrictions on use more frequently, on average, than its planned level of service. Companies in lower bands might need to impose restrictions on use more frequently, on average, than their planned level of service.

We report on companies' index performance in our Service and delivery - performance of the water companies in England and Wales report.
