Will climate change lead to more problems with resources in the future?

We expect climate change to impact on the provision of water and sewerage services and the environment in the future. It is neither possible nor sensible to set out detailed requirements to cater for every eventuality now. Developing our knowledge is a priority for us for the next few years. We will take account of the latest and best evidence as it develops.

Predictions from Hadley Centre, commissioned by the Government, show that further increases in temperature and rainfall due to global warming are expected during the 21st century.

For more information on the state of the climate and projections for the future please visit Hadley Centre's website and Defra's climate change webpage.
