June return: board overview

The board overview should present Ofwat's senior team with a clear, succinct statement of the company's key outputs and achievements. There are five tables in the overview:

Chapter 1 Outputs and service delivery (Tables A and B)
These tables collect data on key service outputs for the water service (Table A) and sewerage service (Table B); the delivery of the drinking water compliance and sewerage service improvement programmes; and the parameters used to assess companies' performance in maintaining serviceability to customers.

Chapter 2 Financial performance measures (Table C)
Table C summarises the financial position of the regulated business for the year. The table includes summarised profit and loss information and the key financial parameter of the return on the regulatory capital value together with data on financial indicators.

Chapter 3 Key supporting information (Tables D and E)
In these tables, companies are asked to report the amount of activity carried out in replacing and refurbishing above and below ground assets as part of their capital maintenance programmes for the water service (Table D) and the sewerage service (Table E).

Chapter 4 Efficiencies (no tables)
In their written submission, companies should comment on capital and operating expenditure achievements and confirm savings that have been made without any reduction in outputs. They should put these in the perspective of the Determination efficiency expectations.

Chapter 5 Competition (no tables)
In their written submission, companies should comment on current activities including inset appointment proposals, common carriage proposals, developments in competitive services and other competitive initiatives/new product initiatives.
