Department for Trade and Industry [DTI] and HM Treasury [HMT] carried out a project on concurrent competition powers and published a report on the DTI website on 25 May 2006. The report recommended improvements to how concurrency works and that regulators should withdraw from regulation and use their competition powers more. We sent our response to DTI and HMT on 13 December 2006. We also worked with other Concurrency Working Party members1 on a joint response and this was sent to DTI on 18 December 2006.

1 The Concurrency Working Party is the group which brings together the OFT and the concurrency competition authorities to ensure the consistent application of competition law in the UK and to discuss competition policy developments.
