June return: reporting requirements

The June return reporting requirements is a dynamic document. It is open to constant revision, but this process has been rationalised into three distinct stages:

The December issue: each year, the manual is issued in December. This is a complete re-issue of the manual. This update has all the initial changes required for the next June return.

Chapter updates: this process takes accounts of any new or revised guidance developed between December and June each year. It will normally consist of the reissue of a whole chapter; or the reissue of the manual in its entirety. The amended chapters will be given a new issue number.

March issue: all amendments arising from clarification are incorporated into the version of the manual issued alongside the information capture system. This forms the basis for the next year's information requirements incorporating any changes to the requirements and requests for clarification.

In practice, we normally issue only two versions of the reporting requirements each year, in December and March.

Changes to the text are shown by striking out text to be deleted, whilst new text is highlighted.

Changes are recorded in a Change control sheet at the end of each Chapter. This details changes made since the last issue of the Chapter. As the change indicators (strikings out or highlights) are not carried forward from one issue of the Chapter to the next, the Change Control sheets are the only record of the changes that have been made to the Chapter over time.
