OFWAT CONSULTS ON REGULATORY CODE OF PRACTICE |
Ofwat today published a consultation paper on a regulatory code of practice for the water industry in England and Wales.
The Code is part of Ofwat's commitment to make its decision-making open, transparent and predictable. It sets out a framework of principles in the way that Ofwat will carry out its work.
Philip Fletcher, Director General of Water Services, said:
"We want stakeholders to understand how we exercise our powers and functions. This is important to companies in terms of regulatory certainty, and to customers who rely on us to protect their interests."
Note to Editors:
1. The Director General of Water Services is the economic regulator of water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. He exercises his powers in a way that he judges will allow them to carry out their functions properly, and finance them.
2. Copies of the document, A Code of Practice Governing the Discharge of Ofwat's Functions, will be available from the Ofwat website on www.ofwat.gov.uk or from the Ofwat library on 0121 625 1373.
3. Responses should be sent to Ingrid Olsen at Centre City Tower, 7 Hill Street, Birmingham B5 4UA, to arrive by 27 June 2003. Comments can also be e-mailed to ingrid.olsen@ofwat.gsi.gov.uk
