Ofwat seeks views over proposed changes to Thames Water's licence |
Ofwat is seeking the views of Thames Water customers and other interested parties on its proposals to modify the company's conditions of appointment following its recent acquisition by Kemble Water Ltd.
In May 2007 Ofwat issued a position paper in which it said it would make the licence modifications proposed in its consultation paper published in February 2007.

1. The Water Services Regulation Authority (Ofwat) is the economic regulator of water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. It exercises its powers in a way that it judges will allow companies to carry out their functions properly, and finance them. Its duties include protecting the interests of consumers, wherever appropriate by promoting effective competition.
2. Thames Water provides drinking water to eight million people and sewerage services to 13 million customers, the largest of any water and sewerage company in England and Wales. It covers a supply area of 5,000 square miles across London and the Thames Valley.
