Ofwat announces new Director of Network Regulation |
Ofwat announced today that Dr Melinda Acutt would be joining the water regulator as Director of Network Regulation.
Melinda, who will join the Ofwat board in early January, is currently working for Yorkshire Water as Head of Regulation. Melinda brings a wealth of experience in economic regulation, gained during her time at Yorkshire Water and previously as an academic economist.
Melinda will succeed Dr Bill Emery who left Ofwat after 15 years' service to become Chief Executive of the Office of Rail Regulation.
Director General of Water Services Philip Fletcher said: "Ofwat has benefited enormously from the knowledge, skill and commitment that Bill Emery brought to the organisation. His contribution in establishing Ofwat as an effective regulator of the water industry has been invaluable.
"Melinda will bring a wide range of expertise and experience to her new role at Ofwat that will complement the skills of our existing staff."
Melinda said: "I am delighted to be taking up this post at a key time for Ofwat, with the formation of the Water Services Regulation Authority in April 2006. I am looking forward to being at the heart of enabling the industry to deliver a first class service, to protecting consumers and the environment, whilst stimulating the companies to become more efficient and effective."
