Ofwat statement |
We are taking very seriously the statement made by Southern Water today about their irregularities in the handling and reporting of customer enquiries and complaints.
Customers' interests must be protected. Southern Water has given us an assurance that customers who have been disadvantaged will be reimbursed.
A priority will be to ensure that all the facts come to light and that lessons are learnt.
Notes to Editors:
1. The Director General of Water Services is the economic regulator of the water and sewerage companies in England and Wales. He exercises his powers in a way that he judges will allow them to carry out their functions properly, and finance them.
2. Please see Southern Water's press statement (No.295, published 24 October) where Southern Water has confirmed that customers who have been disadvantaged will be reimbursed.
