PN 29/05

11 November 2005
Ofwat publishes further ring-fencing proposals for Sutton and East Surrey Water
Ofwat today published proposals to change the licence conditions of Sutton and East Surrey Water, following the company's change of ownership.

The changes are designed to protect customers following the company's recent acquisition by Terra-Firma Investments (GP) 2 Limited though its acquisition vehicle Kellen Acquisitions Limited.

Ofwat proposes to make modifications to bring the company's appointment into line with the current standard for other water companies. This would ensure that Sutton and East Surrey's ability to carry out and finance its work as a water company is not put at risk from other activities carried out within its group. The company has already agreed to act as if these modifications are in place.

Sutton and East Surrey Water supplies water to more than 250,000 homes and around 18,000 business customers in the London boroughs of Croydon and Sutton and parts of Surrey, Kent and Sussex.

Notes to editors:
